Blog, Jvstin Style: IMC: Fates of Fallen Cast Members
Besides two Players moving out of the region (they actually visit Pittsburgh to play their PCs on occasion, and their two daughters now have PCs), there is one other PC without a player.
Sebastian: son of Martin, played by Pete.
Pete left the game for personal reasons, but even before those reasons surfaced, his play style was the source of friction with the other two players. And here's where GNS theory does give an interesting assist to a GM.
My games are driven by Narrativist and Simulationist energy, but I have the background of a Gamist (IOW, I've always enjoyed all kinds of games.)
Pete was about 90% Gamist. My other players, Viv and Anne, are mixed GNS players with very little Gamist. While Pete and I had plenty of fun, much of the stuff Pete enjoyed actually annoyed the other two players because it caused NS ripples that Pete never cared to deal with. In fact, he thought shaking things up without regard to consequence was fun.
And the GM never solved that problem.
Though now an NPC, Sebastian is still very much in the story, creating his own agenda off in shadow where he tries to build a place for himself. His projects occasionally still cause ripples that come back to affect the other PCs.
