The ceiling was the soft, pale grey of dry old wood. He could see cross beams through blurry, still sleepy eyes. Light came from somewhere behind him and he could smell soap, smoke and the briny smell of a harbor. All in all, he was fairly comfortable, even if the mattress was thin and a little lumpy.

He could hear people moving around, distant voices, the clank of dishes and the thump of boots going down a flight of stairs, receding.There was a road nearby, wagons and horses clattering over cobblestones and people shouting to one another.

None of it was familiar.

Nicholas blinked as the wooden beams came into view. He rolled over on the bed and came up on one elbow to view his surroundings, an action that could well have continued should it need to. But he was alone. He drew a deep breath.

It was odd. He didn't remember coming here at all. Very odd. He took a mental inventory first and found that he did remember most things; his name, his family, and what he had been doing for most of life, which was variously fighting and running and politicking (not necessarily in that order) but still with plenty of time for the more pleasant activities of life thrown in for good measure. He also remembered his Dad who he had not seen lately.

So, how did he come to be here? It was the question of the hour.

He got up and stretched. Everything seemed to be in working order. The room was small and didn't have anything else in it except himself and a bed, but just in case, he checked around. Then he went to the window, opened one of the shutters and looked out on the street so he could put some visual cues to the sounds he had heard.

GM Apologies

Turns have been slow to non-existent due to my workload. I apologize.

What happened to Antonio? Is there another Royal in town?

This reporter has discovered that after a particularly odd arrival in Arden, a new young man has arrived called Christopher who claims to be the son of Antonio and thus Benedict's grandson.

No further details are as yet forthcoming and it remains an intriguing rumor, particularly because Antonio, after helping out the new realm of Avalon in a matter that is also as yet unknown, is now missing in action, and possibly even dead. The Crown in Amber has not been particularly forthcoming with details, Prince Caine citing the safety and security of Amber and the Shadow-realm of Avalon itself.

Antonio is the first of his generation to suffer this fate, following the footsteps of Corwin who as some of us remember was missing and thought dead for many years.

The only son of Benedict has been sorely missed by this reporter, as much for his sense of style and dress that was fresh and entertaining as for his lively politics and headline making affair with Lydia Karm.

Is this young man really his son? Does he know of the mystery surrounding his Father and Grandfather? Is he a part of this mystery himself? What does he know and can we find out what he knows?

This reporter for one will be keeping her ear to the ground in the near future!
