Now for a peek....

...at the games that Ambercon was spared.

I had several ideas I was wanting to run. Despite my problems writing blurbs and my lack of energy this last week for game brainstorming, I had a back lof of one-shot game ideas I've been wanting to run. A few of the ideas I considered for this Ambercon but decided not to do.

We Who Are Doomed to Die- A one-shot Nobilis scenario that I've mentioned here before about powers who have a limited amount of miracles they can do before they die.

In the Shadow of the World Tree- Another Nobilis scenario I've been wanting to run. I've really been wanting to run Nobilis in general. However, this one seemed more attuned to a campaign and with my Morpheus game having already turned into a campaign, I did not want to add another.

Marked by the Pattern (still not sure on the title) - Inspired by the "Crossgen" universe, players would play heroic people in any setting that were given powers (or additional powers) that are fueled by the Pattern. They don't know anything about Amber or the Pattern and would be brought together to find out what the source of the strange mark on their skin and its power is. It was basically Amber meets Crossgen meets Michael Moorcock's Multiverse. It was planend as a replacement for the Morpheus game before the decision was made to run Morpheus once more.

The Muppet Throne War- I keep threatening it and I will someday run it. Kermit disappears one day and the cast is at eachothers throats deciding who will replace him in running The Muppet Show. Yeah, this will be a slot eight game.

Realms of Aggremar- Since a lot of my attention has been pulled to the MMORPGs, I guess this was natural. It is the near future and the PCs are normal people who have been selected to be beta testers for the newest VRORPG (Virtual Reality Online RPG), Realms of Aggremar. As they begin playing the game, they start noticing that their are strange things going on in the game. Do the programmers have an alterior motive to the game? Is there something hidden in the code? You're only a few levels away from reaching the "elite" areas. Maybe you'll find some clues there. Players create and play an offline and online identity and the mystery can only be solved by working whithin and outside of Aggremar. This game would be inspired by the movie Avalon and what I have seen of .hack. I'm actually starting to consider running this as a campaign with local players if anyone in the area is interested.

Legacy of the Bat- Instead of running Brave New Krypton again, I wanted to run a new "Elseworlds" adventure. Set in a future Gotham City in a United States where Lex Luthor had become president and overturned the two turn limit to go on as president for the next 100 years (thanks to a dip in "the Lazarus Pit"). A group of kids have escaped government-run orphanage and made their way to Gotham City, the only place where the government will not follow them. Gotham City is a no-man's land filled with people who want to get away from the governments eye and in an abandoned mansion building the kids find a passage to cave....and the history of a hero that had been written out of history. Can the kids re-ignite the legacy of heroics that time had forgotten? They've got a cave full of toys with which to do it. (Inspired by Batman: Digital Justice, George Orwell's 1984, Batman Beyond and almost every dystopian future I have ever read.) I decided to run Brave New Krypton instead because I already had several new games to work on and I did not want to burn myself out.

ACUS 2005- Splinters of Amber

In Tir-na Nog'th, you are a true son or daughter of Oberon, surrounded by images of Ambers that could have been. Ghostly images of your brothers, sisters...even yourself surround you and they believe themselves as real as you. In Tir-na Nog'th, you found yourself trapped and the only person who seems to know how to help you back to Amber is too busy talking to the ghosts, treating them as if they were as real you. In Tir-na Nog'th, you will need to get Dworkin's help or you may find yourself trapped forever. In Tir-na Nog'th, even a ghost can commit murder.

In the place where Alternate Ambers collide, the PCs are versions of the Amberites that differ from the traditional versions we know. Stuck in Tir, will they work together to escape or will they work against each other? When a body is found you'll know one thing for sure. At least one of these ghosts is capable of murder.

ACUS 2005- Battlestar Pegasus

"The Cylons were created by man. They Rebelled. They Evolved."

Many years before the destruction of the colonies, the Battlestar Pegasus went missing near the Cylon border. A full investigation never revealed the fate of the ship and its legendary crew. This is their story. Characters will be provided.

ACUS 2005- Morpheus Drowning

Water. Without it, even we can not live long. It has been months since we have seen rain. The crops are dying. The sea of Amber is as dry as the desert that surrounds us. Only the trees and plants of Adren have managed to live through this drought, yet the dark forest resists all the attempts we have made to clear the land for crops. The citizens of New Zion were not delivered from the Matrix only to die of thirst and hunger. We will find a way to return the rains to the skys of Amber and water to the ocean. We have to.

Morpheus is returning to the Matrix. He believes he knows an Agent of Chaos that can help us. I am doubtful, but I have learned to trust his instincts. I'd like a few of you to go with him. Make sure he gets home. As for the rest of you, we need to look at the other possibilities in case Morpheus fails.

Enthusiasm

I haven't been able to muster a whole lot of enthusiasm for gaming lately, besides the Buffy RPG game I run. I'm playing in a Champions campaign and I'm having a really good time in it but even there I'm just feeling a lack of excitement.

So, deciding on what I would be running at ACUS has been rough. I have a whole bunch of ideas I have been wanting to run....more even than I had last year. I just haven't been able to attach to any of the games the feeling of "this is the game I HAVE to run!"

ACUS 2005- The End of All Roads

It calls to you. It is the home you have ever known. In your dreams, you can almost see it, but when you wake it is gone. What is Amber? The myths call it a city of gods, but what is the truth behind the myths? The only thing you know for sure is that you will not learn any more about Amber where you are. You'll have to hit the road and something in your gut tells you that you have a long trip ahead of you.

Players may contact the GM to create a 100 point character before the convention or choose a 100 point pregenerated character at the con. Characters begin knowing nothing of Amber or Chaos and only knowing of their own homeworld. No Pattern, Trump or Logrus powers. Characters can be from almost any setting imaginable.

This game is the perfect introduction for players who are new to the Amber DRPG.

V for Vendetta

V for Vendetta is being made by the Wachowski Brothers. I thought for sure we'd never see this movie after 9/11. I hope they don't thin it down to much.
