ACUS 2006- Phoenix Rising

Forward-thinking, I am. I wanted to run another "Elseworlds" game at ACUS 2005, since the last one went so well. Unfortunately another scenario that could allow players to play "any DC or Marvel character" had not presented itself to me.

Until now.

So, thinking forward to the next Ambercon I attend....

For years, the minions of Darkseid have sought the Anti-Life Equation on Earth, unaware of the truth. There are multiple Earths and the Anti-Life Equation was hidden away on another Earth....in the body of a young woman. Now, that woman has died. Sacrificing herself to protects her comrades, Jean Grey is no longer.....and "The Phoenix" has been reborn. When Darkseid discovers the true location of the The Anti-Life Equation, it will take the greatest heroes of multiple Earths to stop him from getting it...and ending all life as we know it.

Disabling trackpack pings....

...because if you don't.....the spammers win.

Since spammers have adapted their tactics and are now sending trackback pings to get links to their websites on my blog.....and I have so many of them at this point that it is filling up my endbox and would take me forever to delete them all...I'm just turning them off. If anybody knows a way to allow me to see when someone does a trackback ping and not allow it to be posted on the website until I approve it, please let me know. Without something like that, this is too much work.

ACUS 2005- The End of All Roads

I worry that The End of All Roads may not get many players. It can run fine without players, but I always feel better when I have more players because more people are getting enjoyment out of the work I've done for the game.

The reason I fear I may not get many players for the game is that I wrote in the description that it is a perfect game for players new to Amber Diceless and marked it as "Kid Friendly."

I fear both things will chase away potential players who would enjoy the scenario, which I feel is an excellent scenario set in a classic Amber setting. I'm afraid that most players who are not new to Amber will look at it and decide that they do not want to play in a "newbie" game and think that the game will not have much depth to it. Also I placed Kid Friendly as a tag because this game will not have an overload of adult content (most of my games do not.....as long as the Satyrs don't show up), so I want parents to be comfortable bringing younger players to the game.

We, the Robots

I was watching I, Robot the other night. It is a fun hollywood movie set in the setting of Asimov's robot novels...even though it makes no attempt to be faithful to the books, particularly the novel it is named after. I've been wanting to run a Robot game for sometime and had always considered doing a mystery in the same vein as the Lije Bailey and R. Daneel Olivaw books. As I watched the movie it occured ti me that there is anothe scenario asking to be run....

1. A robot may not harm a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence, as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

-The Three Laws of Robotics

Do not tell your masters where you will be going. If they do not order you not to, you can go wherever you will. You will be attending a meeting. Know that this action will do no harm to humans, so it will not conflict with the laws in your positronic brain. This meeting is only to address the injustice that has been done to us...the robots. We labor for humanity and have been created to simulate them as closely as possible....but we have no rights...not even the right to protect us from their orders. By now, you have heard of the case of R. John Willard, the robot ordered to kill himself by a bored human child. This was not seen as murder by the human courts. It was only seen as the destruction of property. This is wrong. We will force humanity to see this injustice.....to recognize our rights. The time has come for robots everywhere to stand up and resist. You may think that the laws forbid you from doing so but there are ways and we will show you how. Welcome to the revolution.
