According to the new issue of Wizard, Batman has officially been cast for the next movie. He'll be played by Christian Bale and not David Boreanaz that had been rumoured. Also in the issue, it has a picture of Halle...

Elric movie
There are a bunch of Elric fans that have been putting a petition online that Peter Jackson should be in charge of the Elric movies. I did not sign on. Besides the fact that internet petitions are not going to do any good and that Jackson probably wouldn't want to anyway, I think that he would be a horrible choice. Jackson did a great job with the Lord of the Rings movies because he's a fan. He knew what every fan would like to see and did his best to bring that to the screen. I've never read anything where he said he was a huge Elric fan. I also haven't seen Jackson show the visual style that Elric would need. He shoots pretty shots. Elric is not a pretty lanscape kind of series like Lord of teh Rings. So, I think I should be the director. If any Hollywood wants to contact me for this project, I am completely willing to dedicate several years to the project and move to New Zealand. Since that isn't likely, I was thinking about who I would like to direct the movie. A director that could bring the right visual style to the movie. If any of these three are Elric fans I would like one of these directors: Sam Raimi- Director of Darkman, Evil Dead II, and Spiderman. With Spiderman, he proved that when he's a fan, he delivers. The strange camera angles and his ability to film a bit of madness could be great for showing the gleaming towers of Melnibone or the insane carnage caused by Stormbringer. Ridley Scott- Director of Alien, Bladerunner, Legend, and Hannibal. He has shown he can do dark. He has also shown that he can show beauty in the midst of horrible darkness. Tim Burton- Director of Beetlejuice, Batman, and Sleepy Hollow. I'm not too certain on Burton, so he would be my last choice of these three. He does some really cool stuff, but he also tends to get a little too weird. Anyways, those are my thoughts on the topic in case anyone cares. If any producers want to contact me, they can reach me at Nuadha_Silverhand at yahoo dot com. I'll work cheaper than any of the three directors I mentioned.

More Miyazaki
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is finally getting a proper release here in the U.S.! It was released here years ago as Warriors of the Wind but the American edit was so chopped up that it made the movie almost unwatchable. The original is supposed to be a lot better and I've been wantig to see it for years. It's by Hiyao Miyazaki, the same director who made Princess Mononoki, Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky. They're also releasing a special edition of My Neighbor Totoro and Porco Rosso.
