Champions: Checkmate
Neil is getting burned out on GMing Champions so he wants to take a break for a few months. We have been talking about what to game because we still want to get together Thursdays. So, I emailed a couple...

Checkmate
The game went pretty well last night. Our two heroes were called on to retreive a nuclear warhead stolen by the Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker. Their armor deflected the bullets of his henchman pretty well, but they learned...

Champions
My Champions group got together last night for the first time in a while. We had a good time. It was the first time is a long while I've been able to play Jubei. We ended up talking at one point...

New Gods!

Mutants and Masterminds
My usual Champions group played Mutants and Masterminds last night. M&M is a new superhero RPG that is based on the D20 (D&D) system. They made some great changes to the rules and I was extremely impressed with it. I...

A Brief History of the Fourth World

A Brief History of the Fourth World (continued)
Part Three: RebirthThe world of the old gods was split in halves, two giant molten bodies spinning slow and barren. These worlds were clean of all that had gone before, adrift in the fading sounds of cosmic thunder. The two...

The Bat-Phone
I used to think that the Bat-phone in the old Batman TV series was pretty cheesy, but with technology these days, I've started thinking. Why doesn't Batman just give Jim Gordon a special cell-phone or walkie-talkie that can't be traced....

X-Statix: Di Another Day
Di Another Day: That's the title of Peter Milligan's upcoming storyline of X-Statix, the "edgy" spin-off of X-Men. In it, he introduces the newest mutant to the Marvel Universe, Princess Diana. It's not a joke and he's getting a lot...

Gaming Resource: International Superheroes
Superheroes is a very visual genre, so if you're GMing or playing a superhero game it is extremely useful to have images of your superheroes. However, it can be very difficult to find good superhero images that are not already...

Playing Gods
Nei's RDU game is getting a little crazy. Chango has decided to cross this "threshold" and do what the supervillains usually do: try and become a god. (It's somehow fitting that Chango is an ex-supervillain.) Now, the most destructive member...

RDU: Playing Gods continued
I'm just talking about current evenst in my Champions campaign. If this doesn't interest you, feel free to skip. There's nothing earth-shatteringly insightful here. Then, there really isn't anything earth-shatteringly insightful in this blog in general. So, Chango's teammate and...

Comic Book Quiz
Is this because I'm non-violent or because I sold my soul to the devil? Either way, he's one of my favorite characters of all time. John Constantine Pic
You are John Constantine. John has a strong knowledge of the occult and at
times he appears to wield strong magical powers
but he has also become known as something of a
con-man, more likely to talk himself out of
trouble than pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Kevin Smith on Superheroes
Kevin Smith wrote an article recently on the appeal of the crimefighting spandex crowd. It's well worth reading, so check it out here: http://viewaskew.com/press/arena/

Secret Worlds: The Origin of Mr. Jones
Mr Jones is my character in Neil's new Champions campaign, Secret Worlds. One of the other PCs wanted to know more about him so Mr. Jones gave him this:...

Why Superman doesn't need a mask:
A few (supposedly) true stories: In New York a bunch of years ago, a couple of cops set up a bit where they weakened the frame of a steel door, and one of them took the next opportunity to chase...

Secret World: Mr. Jones
I kept meaning to post this. Storn did some sketches for our Champions characters the other night. He did a real good job with Jones. You can see it at the bottom of the page here: http://www.geocities.com/nuadha_silverhand//champsgallery.html

Superhero Gaming: Beyond the Capes and Cowls
By far my favorite setting for roleplaying is superheroes. One of the reason I think I'm having an easier time running the Buffy campaign over the World of Darkness games is that, at it's heart, Buffy is a superhero story....

Superheroes and the Moral Greys
In the comments for a post below about the appeal of superhero gaming, Meera asked: How recent is the "moral grey" of superheroism, though? One of the reasons I stayed fairly far away from early Superman was because of that...

Comic Book Reviews
Besides gaming, I've intended to use Claimh Solais to host my pop culture reviews and since I am a big fan of comics, there will probably be a few reviews here from time to time. Identity Crisis #1: I was...

Marvel Universe RPG: A short review
Marvel has quit supporting the Marvel Universe RPG, their diceless superhero game. I feel a bit guilty that I just recently bought it. I feel like I should have supported the chance they took on making a diceless game earlier....

Comic Book Review
The Authority: More Kev #1 (of 4): Garth Ennis is writing this four issue miniseries and it just serves to me as another example of how far he has fallen. When I first started reading him, when he wrote Hellblazer,...

New Superhero RPG
Truth and Justice: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=5069& I want it. I've heard a lot of cool things about Dead Inside and sounds like the system will doing something truly original towards simulating the genre. I'm currently in a Savage Worlds superhero game (the Necessary Evil setting). I'm enjoying the game, but higly random settings don't fit the superhero genre, a genre where everything happens for a reason.
