Conflict Sequence

Each attribute is a realm for dramatic conflict and each has speed of opportunity. Attributes test against each other by direct rank comparison and higher ranks go first. Ties go to the faster attribute. High-ranked P Cs can 'hold' their action opportunity to react once low-ranked P Cs have committed intent. Jedi are famous for this.

As we see in the movies, the Force is the fastest opportunity to act. The Force has first response in ties.

Mind is faster opportunity to act. Mind has second response in ties.

Body is fast opportunity to act. Body has third response in ties.

Gear is normal opportunity to act. Gear has last response in ties.

Example: four characters are in a conflict situation. They declare their intents based on the conflicts they choose. Lando, Leia, Han and Vader are about to confront.

Vader plans to surprise the others. He expects to use the Force and holds his action, waiting on his 'guests'.

Han is through the door first, seeing Vader he pulls his blaster. This is a Body action, not a Gear action despite the equipment use. Han acts at Body 3 intending to shoot Vader. Han has a general specialty of Weapons, so he acts at Body Weapons 4.

Vader has Force 8 and he intends to Negate Energy. He intercepts all of Han's blaster fire.

Lando (last in line) grabs at Leia from behind. Lando is Body 3. There is no specialty add.

Leia does not join Han's attack on Vader, because Han is standing in front of her. She could try a Mind action, such as sending a 'warning' communications alert. Leia is Mind 3 and would not act before Han's first shot (Mind 3 vs Body 4), however Leia has Expert Specialty FASTPLAN. She would be able to send a distress signal even before Han fired or Lando grabbed her. She elects to respond to Lando by countering his grab. Leia is Body 5 and knows Martial Arts. So she counter-elbows Lando knocking him into the door frame.

It turns out the room is full of stormtroopers. The next round of actions begin.

Vader elects to use the Force again. He uses Grip to yank Han's blaster to his own hand. Force Grip 8 goes before Body Weapons 4. Vader succeeds and Han is disarmed.

Leia realizes this is a no-win situation (this hardly requires Mind FASTPLAN 5.) She sees her friends will come out on the wrong end of this. Lando has betrayed them. Leia gives Lando a venomous stare. The characters surrender to Vader.

Conflict (like the example) is a series of unpredictable variables. I'll do my best to make it intuitive.
