For those of you that don't know, I dress up like a pirate once or twice a year and have a great time. That might sound juvenile to you, but - okay, it is, but it's FUN! We try to make it fun for everyone else to, and somehow this earned us some attention.
January 18-20, 2008 at the Detroit-Troy Marriot there will be High Voltage Confusion, where there shall be super-cool guests, and High Voltage Pirates.
Scott Westerfeld and Justine Larbalestier, Author Guests of Honor
Carl Lundgren, Art Guest of Honor
Kevin M. Dunn, Science Guest of Honor
Throwing Toasters, Music Guest of Honor
The Roaming Pirate Party, Fan Guests of Honor
John Scalzi, Toastmaster (who may be the coolest secret ninja* who needs to be reminded that without pirates, the earth will melt EVAR.)
*(from my comment to the Toastmaster): I have always regretted no one ever brought a party of ninjas to duel with our party of pirates. It is not as if we have not TAUNTED the ninjas. We've done everything we could, including Mister Marsh forcing people to remove their ninja ribbons and put them on the bottom of their shoes in order to get a pirate ribbon. And still, no ninjas. I was thinking a dancing battle ala West Side Story. Oh, the glory! You, John, would be especially suited to lead these ninjas - we have heard of your dance floor antics (and shirtlessness!) and indeed, not even knowing you were a secret ninja, we have gained first-hand intelligence of your footwork!
